Fishing
One of the great attractions of the Donnington Grove estate is the beautiful River Lambourn that runs through it. This is the classic example of a perfect trout chalkstream; not too wide, bright gravel bottom and gin-clear water. In fact, it is the ideal territory for stalking the wild trout in wonderful surroundings.
Fishing is available on the river for a length of approximately half a mile. As well as the Lambourn, we have a lake in front of the house of about 5 acres.
The lake is stocked with rainbow trout, whilst the river has a natural brown population, supplemented with carefully stocking of locally reared fish. Anglers can move between the river and the lake.
Fishing is restricted to fly fishing only on both the lake and river. Our resident Fishing Guide and Instructor, John Stephens, is available for hire by the day. John is a patient and qualified instructor, who will provide tackle and is able to teach all ages and abilities.
The season opens mid April and closes on the 30th September.
