The schedule of competitions is such that there are competitions each month which should give all members a chance at either getting their names on a club board or simply engaging is a friendly interclub “social” match against local clubs, apart from the normal monthly medals and stableford competitions. We also hold summer and winter singles and doubles knockout competitions which are always keenly contested.
However, we also try and enter club teams into some of the more serious and competitive regional competitions such as the Hillman Trophy, Concorde League, and the Mail on Sunday National Golf Club Classic. We have a good record of success in these competitions, in particular the Concorde League which we have won on three occasions and been runners-up three times also. We won the Hillman Trophy in 2004 which is a great feather in our cap!
We are always on the lookout for more players to make themselves available for either the serious or the social interclub games. So, if you are interested let any committee member know what takes your interest or, alternatively, keep an eye on the notice boards and enter your name against the competition entry forms as they are posted. There should be something to interest all members of all abilities. For the list of the mens' interclub matches for 2010 and the results click here.
All our competitions are to be found in the Events Calender and if you click on the event you should be able to see either details of the competitions or the results if already held. For details of all the competitions held each year and their formats go to the Committee page and click on the Club Rules link where competitions are listed at the end of the document.
For the latest Handicaps please see top of page and for the Ladies handicaps go to the link at the top of the Ladies page. The hadicap lists have an 'i' next to the names of any player with an inactive handicap. Those who are classified as being "inactive" are not allowed to play in any club board or trophy competition. In order to become active you may enter a supplemental score (3 cards are required) or enter a monthly medal or stableford, but purely for the purpose of activating your handicap. You will not be allowed to win a medal or stableford until your handicap is once again "active". See the note from the EGU which explains the situation by clicking here.

NB. As members will be aware, the current tee booking system prevents
members from booking weekend tee times earlier than 8am on the Monday of
the preceeding week. However, to better facilitate members wishing to
arrange their knockout matches in advance of the date for the round, the
committee has agreed that, subject to the following conditions, this
rule is relaxed so that the time constraint will no longer apply:
2. It is also required that before ringing to book a time BOTH PARTIES must have agreed to the date.

However, the home team made us all very welcome, and the meal afterwards was one of the best so far this season with a lamb shank main course followed by bread & butter pudding and ice cream. Who wouldn't wish to be a Senior with days like today!

Mixed Results for the Mixed Team v The Springs.

This year we seem to have been blessed with having lovely sunny weather for all our mixed matches and Sunday 25th July was no exception. DG were host to The Springs in a tightly fought match, which although unfortunately ended in a 2.5/3.5 loss for DG, was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Andy Ward, Jan King and Cliff Waller, Lesley Dixon won their matches and John Tonner, Sylvia Davis halved their match. We learned after the match that four of The Springs ladies are through to the Oxfordshire County Semi finals, so we thought we had done quite well.
