Let's start with the important events - our social ones!

This year will be full of fun social gatherings where lots of money will go to our wonderful charities so please come along to as many as you can and better still bring lots of your friends!

Our 2013 social calendar is not quite complete but there are some firm dates for our main events which are fixed. The club presentation night is on 4th May and our first black tie event is the summer ball on July 6th.Later in the year we have our New Years Eve party and in early 2014 we plan to repeat the Burns Night.

For all you galloping gourmets in the club I'm delighted to tell you that Tim Brunsden has once again agreed to lead the Donnington Diners in the direction of the very best restaurants in the area - so check out the notice boards and web site for news on individual outings.

There is absolutely no excuse for not having a great time as one of our social events - so for ' a bit of a do' with a difference come along to Donnington Grove!

Best wishes

Sandy MacDougall

OK back to more serious stuff!

Our 2013 golfing calendar is crammed full of great competitions which cater for all members and all handicap levels, so make sure you play in as many as you can. If you do, I look forward to presenting you with trophies on our presentation night in 2014!

You will find all club events in your diary as well as on this web site  and of course we’ll remind you of all events with timely news item updates. We have some special charity competitions where the golf is just an excuse to have a good time such as our Captain’s Charity Day on October 12th and our celebration club championship on July 13th/14th. Finally for all those hard working souls who need some stress therapy we have our Friday Champagne roll ups starting again in April.

A special mention must go to several excellent individuals who are organising our Interclub and League matches.

Me for organising our Interclub matches

Geoff Kells for organising our Hillman Trophy team

Malcolm Kingham for organising our Concorde League team

You can find details of all our seniors’ events in the seniors section and similarly our Ladies events in the Ladies section.

All in all this year's going to be a year full of golfing opportunity

– so grab it with both hands (making sure of course that your grip pressure is correct!)

Best wishes

Andy Storer

When the Cowes come home!

As the senior's captain and vice-captain stumbled, the rest of the D.G.seniors delivered a sure footed display to beat the visitors from Cowes by 4-2. Are there really any losers on a winning team?
Yes! ( Ed)
