Ladies Vice Captain Biography

Sylvia Davies
Lady Vice Captain

As the Lady Vice Captain, Sylvia is responsible for the management of all ladies golf and the club’s mixed matches throughout the year including looking after the clubs Ladies Team in the Bronze League.   Her prime role on behalf of the ladies section is supporting the Lady Captain and nurturing ladies golf within the club.

Sylvia joined Donnington Grove, her first golf club in April 2006 and has been an enthusiastic member of the club ever since.   Together with her partner John, she supports all club competitions and is an active member of the clubs “social scene”.

Sylvia says, “I have always thought that golf is such a difficult game, when we go on holiday and play golf or visit other golf clubs, I tend to score better and sometimes below my handicap, I believe that is down to the standard of our golf club.

“Don’t get me wrong, golf is still difficult, but it seems easier elsewhere.   I have been fortunate to be able to play golf in so many places in such a relatively short time, India, America, Spain and throughout the UK.   I am looking forward to playing in the Western Isles of Scotland during one our holidays in 2010.

“We have met several new friends on golf courses and that is one of the fascinations of this game to me, it doesn’t seem to matter where you go, golf is generally played by lovely people.

“I never thought that I would ever be on a golf committee as my early aspirations were far removed from the golfing world, however, I am really looking forward to the challenge and hope that I can bring something to the ladies section and the golf club that will be beneficial.”
