Our Head Chef
Displaying a passion for traditional cooking with a touch of innovation, Donnington's Head Chef, Simon Hodgson aims to provide guests with a satisfying menu of dishes that make dining here an enjoyable experience. His is favourtie New World and Asian, although British classics, traditional food and the excellent fresh and seasonal provenance of the local area inspires his craft for our current menu.
Simon has risen steadily through the ranks, his first sous chef role was at the age of 19, 1 year later becoming a Head chef in the pressurized atmosphere of a large chain hotel where he progressed to Head Chef status.More recently after three years at the helm in a near by competitor the time was right to move here, having autonomey to write his own menus, source local produce and ensure that if an item it can be made here then it is. So long gone are the days or convenience and frozen products. Focussing on flavour to create dishes that continue to delight guests, one of his most recent projects is the concept of development of a kitchen herb garden, the contents of which will feature strongly on the seasonal menus.
