Cast a fly at Donnington
Imagine - casting a fly into a crystal-clear chalk stream. Donnington’s half-mile stretch of the River Lambourn has a bright gravel bottom and is the prefect width. The river rises in the Berkshire Downs - a Site of Special Scientific Interest, it’s a beguiling waterway.
On Donnington’s stretch of the river you can stalk wild brown trout in picturesque surroundings. The river trout season runs from mid-April to September. Autumn and winter bring the ideal time to learn fly fishing skills by catching grayling. Then, once the trout seasons starts, you’ll be well placed to land a couple.
